Elaine's Story

"I was introduced to art as a child by my mother, who is a very talented sketch artist. I never remember a napkin at our table that didn’t have doodling on it.  Mom taught me to look at the world to appreciate art...

"Mom taught me to look at the world to appreciate art.  In junior high and high school, I took private art lessons from the high school art teacher in the summers.  He introduced me to watercolors, charcoal pencil art and sculpting.  I took every art class available in high school but only took one class, Art Appreciation, in college.  I can honestly say that I never considered making a career in art.

I was born in Denver, Colorado, moved to Oklahoma as a child, and grew up in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.  A graduate of Bartlesville College High School and Oklahoma Wesleyan University, I earned bachelor degrees in Management of Business Administration and Management of Human Resources. I spent many years working as an accountant in the corporate environment and held several positions in Human Resources, before becoming a full-time artist.

I have three children, two sons and a daughter, and two grandchildren.  After my children were grown and gone from our home, and after a corporate lay-off, I found myself painting, and soon realized how much I loved it.  Each time I would finish a painting, I would post it on my Facebook page.  Friends would ask me to paint a picture for them and my gallery began to build!  Within a few months I started a business of selling paintings and teaching classes.  I teach group and individual paint classes in the northeastern Oklahoma and Southeastern Kansas areas.   God has certainly blessed our lives with art.  I can’t imagine doing anything else!
